The idea and inspiration for this painting came when Carole and I, along with some close friends, took an eight day rafting trip down the Colorado River, through the Grand Canyon, It was a wonderful time. One of the days we all took a side trip and hiked up the canyon to see the ruins of an old Indian granary and this was the view from there. We’ll all remember that experience for the rest of our lives. No painting or photograph can ever show how beautiful the Grand Canyon is. You have to see it in person, and even then it’s almost too much to take in. This painting also won the 2002 Peoples Choice Award at the North West Rendezvous of Art show in Helena Montana.
